Favorite Boss?
Well, I am bored and feel like getting a new topic out on the forums. This really isn't off-topic of Metroid, but it doesn't have to do with hacking so I'll post it here. The question is: Out of ALL the Metroid games in the series, what is your favorite Boss/min-boss? I'll go ahead and start off with my answer.
This is a tough one for me, because it comes down to two different Bosses. I have to say that Phantoon (Super Metroid) was my favorite all-time boss of the Metroid series, and I'll tell you why. *Flashback* I'm two-three years old, parents hand me a SNES controller figuring that it would keep me occupied, but it doesn't. Eventually, my dad decided to put an actual game in the console to see if it will hold my attention. Super Mario World was the game by the way, and yes it did hold my attention. *End Flashback* That was how I got started into video games. By the time I was five I tried the game called Super Metroid. Never got far, and it was too hard for me so I didn't pick it up again until I was about seven. When I was seven I played the game again, and actually understood the "point" of the game. I enjoyed it, but always got to the same part and gave up. I always made it to the wrecked ship, but wouldn't go past it. The reason was because Koben(?) (The ghost guy that appears) scared the shit out of me. I would always end up bothering my dad to beat that part for me. Than I would continue along my way. After playing a few times, I finally worked up the courage to travel to Phantoon by myself, but I always died. (Reason being, I always used Super missiles on him, and didn't know how to evade the fire swipe thing.) I think it was around 9 or 10 until I was finally able to beat the game without any assistance. To me travel to Phantoon was very memorable, the actual boss battle was great, and to make it better my favorite part of the game was gathering gravity suit. (I liked sitting in the Chozo while he blew up the spikes, and actually having the gravity suit made me feel powerful.) In case your wondering the runner up of my favorite boss was Crocomire, because I was scared of him as well. Whenever I was younger I had to have someone else beat Crocomire, Phantoon, and go through the room with the large Metroid, because those three parts of the game would actually give me nightmares! :wiggle:
Plain and Simple: Super Metroid = Best Game Ever!

The Koben are the souls of life forms that died when the Wrecked Ship crashed centuries ago. Some combination of the properties of Zebes and the properties of the ship itself, possibly connected to some randomly damaged ship component, serve to trap the souls of all the life-forms that lost their life in the crash. Angry and vengeful over their predicament and their inability to move on, they attempt to latch onto any creature foolish enough to enter the ship and proceed to suck away its life. They do not appear to depend on the life forces of others to live, it appears they simply wish to do harm to others and that is the only way they can. Creatures in Zebes have learned to stay away from the Wrecked Ship, and Kobens are the only things one will find there (besides the occasional Trilobite which is too foolish to know to stay away). Kobens seem to be physically hurt by bright lights, which is probably why Phantoon is draining the power from the ship.
and now you know why I'm still scared of them 14 years on, they make me
also Phantoon is my favourite boss

Re: Favorite Boss?
My favorite boss is easily the One Winged Angel form of Sephiroth from FFVII. The battle just makes you feel practically hopeless, especially when he uses Supernova. Also, the music in that fight is simply the best boss theme ever created.

Re: Favorite Boss?
Hey, it's perfectly off-topic and uNsane enough for me. ;)
My fave Metroid-related boss would have to be... All of them. What would the Metroid series be without any epic (or even average) bossfights?
My fave other series boss would have to be the Giant Mech in level 7 of Descent (as well as most of the rest, but he is just about the right amount of tough compared to the rest of them.) Stupid vulcan gunners and homing missiles coming at you from every angle.

Re: Favorite Boss?
Lets see... favorite Metroid Boss would have to be Kraid. He is so epically huge!
Now my fav. Metroid Boss "Battle" would have to be fighting Quadraxis from Metroid Prime 2.
Favorite NON-Metroid Boss - Sephiroth, as he is the coolest bad guy that ever did live!
Favorite NON-Metroid Boss "Battle" - gah, so many to choose from O.o, so for now I'll just pic Ruby Weapon (FF7) and Dark Link (OoT)

Re: Favorite Boss?
Ridley.
He's just this badass dragon that NEEDS to get his ass whipped in as many games as possibly because he's such a bastard, kiling samus's family.
also, shadow: I'm not the only one that got nightmares from bosses on super metroid when I was young..? awesome!
Kraid and crocomire scared the shit out of me when I was little. so did the mother brain.
NON-METROID favorite boss: Karst & Agatio (sp?) on top of the jupiter lighthouse. it was just cool. I need to find that game

Favorite Metroid Boss: Ridley. He's just that awesome bad guy that every series needs.
Favorite Non-Metroid Boss: Sephiran(FE:RD). He's just that seemingly kind-hearted fellow who turns out to be this dark and evil dude. Also, Ashera from the same game is one of the most creative strategy-RPG boss battles ever(with awesome music as well)!
